Position Overview

The Luminos.AI Fellowship Program is designed for law students or attorneys who are new entrants into the workforce interested in developing cutting-edge software within the world of AI law and risk. Fellows must be passionate about building software, the intersection of law and technology, motivated, conscientious, and reliable. 

This role provides direct engagement in supporting legal, privacy, data science, product and responsible AI teams at Luminos customers within a fast-moving start up environment. Fellows will gain valuable, hands-on experience in a dynamic software company where their contributions will shape the SaaS platforms customers use to address real AI risk on a daily basis.

The length of the Fellowship Program is flexible, but usually lasts between 3-6 months, but may be extended upon mutual agreement. Anticipated hours are negotiable based on the needs of the fellow.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research in support of various customer requirements to embed risk management strategies within the Luminos platform;
  • Requirements include generative AI, agentic AI, machine learning, model risk management, and data de-identification; 
  • Support the development and customer use of software features to address emergent AI compliance requirements in complex business environments; 
  • Stay current on numerous AI laws and regulations as they are proposed and/or implemented to support Luminos platform features.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school or recent law school graduate;
  • Strong research, writing, and analysis skills to apply existing law to new situations and contexts; and
  • Strong interest in startups, software development, technology and artificial intelligence.

Preferred Skills (a plus):

  • Educational or experiential knowledge of AI, Machine Learning, and/or Generative AI (highly desired); and
  • Knowledge of privacy, security, or data governance laws, regulations and best practices (highly desired).
