Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring we deliver our product to customers with high availability, responsiveness, and security. You’ll also ensure our development teams can rapidly deploy new services with minimal friction and help design and extend our serverless architecture. The ideal candidate will be adept at interacting with other engineering teams, be capable and comfortable managing our security posture, and have a deep understanding of cloud networking, services, and cloud IAMs.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other engineering roles to design and deploy the infrastructure needed to run our services ensuring ease of deployment across multiple environments managed via code.
  • Own our monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and rectify any issues with our systems.
  • Work with other engineers to manage our CI/CD tooling and processes.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of our cloud infrastructure and processes.
  • Own our overall computer security preparedness.
  • Lead technical efforts for certification preparation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent industry experience).
  • 5+ years experience relevant to Infrastructure Engineering.
  • Experience working with containerized apps and serverless systems.
  • Expert in all things AWS especially networking, VPCs, and IAM. Willingness to learn the same for other cloud providers.
  • Expertise in managing infrastructure as code with Terraform
  • Experience configuring and maintaining CI/CD flows with services like GitHub Actions or AWS CodePipeline
  • Experience with SOC-2 and other certification audits.
  • General systems administration skills.

Preferred Skills (a plus)

  • Terragrunt
  • AWS Copilot
  • Python
  • Database monitoring and performance tuning.
  • Experienced in building DIY monitoring and administrative tools using low-code systems (e.g. ReTool)
  • Experience tagging cloud resources to support Cloud FinOps
  • Low-touch employee device management experience

*  This is a US-based remote position. Travel may be required on a roughly bi-monthly basis to collaborate with other team members. Preference may be given to candidates in one of our targeted metropolitan areas, currently Washington, DC and Columbus, OH. Employees within our targeted metropolitan areas are encouraged to co-work frequently with other team members and may be required to meet to collaborate with other team members on a roughly bi-weekly basis.
